What if a lump is discovered?
There are several conditions that could account for breast lumps. It's important to note that 80 percent of lumps are not malignant, but since the risks of cancer does increase with age, all lumps should be evaluated by a physician.

How are breast abnormalities identified at an early stage?
Regular surveillance by the patient, health professional as well as mammography, Ultrasound technology and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be used to identify breast abnormalities early.
Breast cancer is a disease that when caught early, responds more favorably to treatments, which gives the patient a better chance for survival.
According to the American cancer Society, patients who have an early form of breast cancer have more than a 97 % five year survival rate.
The American Cancer Society also recommends mammogram and ultrasound technologies as successful tools in detecting tumors before symptoms arise.
Dr Giannotti has been a leader in genetic testing for BRCA 1 and 2.
